The WCAAP supports and helps promote breastfeeding throughout our state.  Below are lists of local, state and national resources for both providers and parents:

International Lactation Consultant Association

Visit this site to find local International Board Certified Lactation Consultants by zip code.  Also, ask your obstetrician and pediatrician about lactation support in their office or local hospital.

La Leche League International

La Leche League International offers many resources for families including breastfeeding help, breastfeeding publications, links to local leaders and support groups.

Breastfeeding Coalition of Washington

The Breastfeeding Coalition of Washington is part of Within Reach, an organization that provides health care information to the public on issues such as nutrition, immunization and insurance options for low-income families.  The website provides mothers and physicians with information on common breastfeeding concerns and questions, breastfeeding conference details, legislative efforts to support breastfeeding mothers and links to local breastfeeding coalitions throughout Washington state.

National and General Overview Resources:

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Breastfeeding

The CDC’s site provides information on breastfeeding support for mothers, the latest research on benefits of breastfeeding for mothers and their infants, and resources for physicians seeking to improve maternal care practices in hospitals, birth centers and clinics.

Office on Women’s Health

The Office on Women’s Health is another governmental agency whose website provides a substantial amount of information to support breastfeeding mothers and businesses with breastfeeding employees.  There is a Spanish language option.

American Academy of Pediatrics, Breastfeeding

The AAP website contains multiple resources to support breastfeeding families.
