History

The Washington Pediatric Society was founded in 1934 and was renamed the Washington Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (WCAAP) after we affiliated with the AAP in 1960.  The chapter is a recognized 501(c)(6); incorporated in 1986.

2001 – Dr. Danette Glassy – efforts to gain inclusion of pneumococcal vaccine in the WA children’s immunization plan and for the passage of the statewide “bully bill” for school children
1998 – Dr. John Neff  - efforts to improve the care and services provided to children with special health care needs
1997 – Drs. Tao Kwan-Gett  and Paula Bock -  their work on the Burma- Thailand border with Burmese refugees
1996 – Dr. Barry Lawson – leadership in “Operation Vaccination” providing Hepatitis B vaccinations in local schools
1995 – Dr. William Frankenberg – child development work, particularly on behalf of children with special needs
