Vaccines

The WCAAP is committed to making life-saving vaccines accessible to all of Washington’s children.  We recognize there are a number of barriers to this goal, which we continually strive to address.  In this section of our website you can learn about the state’s Universal Purchase system for vaccines, a program which nearly collapsed before we spearheaded the effort to revive it with the new public-private partnership, the Washington Vaccine Association.   You will find resources and an FAQ for parents who have questions or concerns about the safety of vaccines.  We also provide a number of resources for healthcare providers, including a new blog by local epidemiologist and vaccine expert, Dr. Ed Marcuse. His Immunization Update blog keeps providers up-to-date on any changes in ACIP or AAP recommendations and policies as well as changes in which vaccines are purchased or covered by the Universal Purchase program.
